Week 5 of #365DaysOfTB - Winter Landscapes

This is the 5th week recap of my 365 days of Tilt Brush daily art challenge. These are 3-D virtual reality immersive paintings. You can find the other weekly series here. During this week I painted a series of winter landscapes. The dominant color in these virtual reality paintings is in the blue range to show the shadows of a very chilly atmosphere. I hope you enjoy the silence of these peaceful scenes, and if you are looking at these during a hot month I hope you feel the cold chills that a breeze here would bring you. =D

This first VR painting shows a wintry sunset in the mountains. I use the unlit surfaces of the Wire and Marker brushes to achieve a soft look for the snow and clouds. Here the sun’s rays are reflected as cool red hues on the clouds. I stayed in the magenta/pinkish area for the sky’s color palette. See more content of this painting.

I was inspired to paint a striped iceberg of Antarctica for another winter scene. This beauty’s reflection is partially broken up in the icy moving water below. The skies are in the blue-gray tones to show that there is a storm brewing. There is a family of seals hanging out on the snow banks to the right of this winter snow globe scene. See more content ofthis painting.

Soft snow rests gently on the bare tree limbs and blankets the ground in this snowy daylight infused painting. Here I use soft pastel shades of an iridescent pearl to create a soft hue change across this scene. The shadows reflect a teal hue to suggest the time of day and diffusion of the sun’s rays. This painting was a lot of fun to do because there are branches everywhere and little areas to explore. The sun is searing through the foliage and causes the blue shadows to stretch out in the foreground. I used a pale greenish color for the distant branches to suggest an over-saturated look in the sun-rays. See more content of this painting.

Snowman days! This is just a fun winter painting of a snowman to change things up a bit. Also, I was busy doing another project that day and needed to do something really quick to continue my daily challenge. ;-) See more content of this painting.

Little Red Cabin is what I named this one! I love this scene because it reminds me of peaceful mountain days away from the daily routine of city life. A little red cabin rests on a snow banked mountain side while snow gently falls from the sky. The detail in the trunks show in the foreground trees as they tower over the road to the cabin casting shadows across the snow covered ground. See more content of this painting.

A polar bear stands at the edge of a snow covered bank staring down at the frosted waters. A frozen rocky mountain range sits in the distance. See more content about this painting.
